part two of the ongoing citicar prodject
here it is .april 2004 its finaly getting warm enouph to do some work
now the scrapping and removel of the glue is very time consuming prying the hood off was a bit scary because of the craking sounds it made while pulling off the top
the hood is off and now i can realy see what work has to be done... notice the way that the brake lines are they dont look right to me the valve is only on the front line hmmm shouldnt there be a valve for all the wheels front and rear? well ill check on that later
after cleaning off that ugly black messy glue i coverd the alluminium with duck tape so in case of any sticky resadue also the tape makes a great temporary hinge for testing ...it works !!this little modifacation makes it much easier to get into insted of wrenching the human under the small dash
well now its off to the home depot store to get the hinge more on the way.....
well here it is the holes are drilled and the hinges are in place .easyest ones i found were for a regular house door nuthin fancy but it does the job

notice the aluminium bar that goes across the underside of where the hinges are attached theres a reason for that bar and there will be more added to the rest of the hood because the plastic is very flimsy and for now it must be opened and closed with care
im also going to put a bar under the top of the hinges for added strenth.after all the light framework is done ill ad some hydrolic cylinders like you see on many hatchback cars today...then im going to paint
thanks to one of the members of the yahoo cc car club i found the valve i was looking for... after rebuilding the master cylinder and bleeding the whole system i took the little car for a ride around the block to test the brakes
some new lines were put on just for saftey. as you can see the rust is realy gross .aahhh new england ...(new shocks are next in line )as i was testing the brakes which work very well but on a hard stop the front drums make a loud bang and lock up ill ajust the stars and check the front end tomorow ...stay tuned!!!
its hard to tell but here is a shot of the 1/4 inch flat steel bar i installed to strenthen up the hinges connected to the top of the cc car ...now go to page 4 for more
